Description
Virginia Satir was recently honored in The Family Therapy Networker as one of the ten most important theorists/therapists of all time. Satir, perhaps more than any other Master Therapist, believed that human beings, when put in touch with their inner resources, are fully capable of change and growth, of becoming more fully human.
Through didactic teaching, experiential exercises and video tape, workshop participants will learn many of the essential concepts of the Satir Model and how to use them with clients. Specifically participants will:
- Recognize the importance of self-esteem and its relationship to mental health
- Know the Communication Stances and how they reflect self-esteem
- Be familiar with the “Ingredients of an Interaction” and its use
- Know how to use Family Maps
- Have an understanding of the Change Process and how to use it with clients
