Description

Substance and behavioral addictions often co-exist with mood disorders. Research has shown this to be true of people who struggle with compulsive sexual behavior and yet they often go undetected in treatment settings. These problems are intricately interlinked and efforts to treat one can simply result in a shift to or relapse in another. This course will define sex addiction and review the various ways in which it can interact with co-morbid conditions. Assessment tools and a model for differential diagnosis and treatment will be also be presented. Resource and referral information is provided.
