Description

This conference satisfies the 10-hour pre-licensing requirement for Aging and Long Term Care for LMFTs, Psychologists, and LCSWs.

Prior to this generation, most clients went through their mid-life transition and then began a slow decline into older age. This has changed. Perhaps it’s the increased longevity expected in this generation, perhaps the fact that the baby boom generation defies the rules and aging at each developmental stage or perhaps it’s related to better health practices, but the bottom line is that this large population of individuals has unique special needs for therapy.

This panel approaches this population through interlinked perspectives, exploring both the characteristics of this group and useful therapeutic methods. The panel explores the importance of issues such as forgiveness, acceptance, mentoring, health, creativity, care-taking for children and parents and new directions from Health Psychology, Jungian and Existential perspectives.

This is a clinically-oriented program with multiple examples for developing a practice and working with mature adults. A final focus will explore the needs of this group of clients and therapists and how to develop a practice with clients of this 45 – 65 age group.
