James Hallenbeck M.D.
James Hallenbeck, M.D. is
an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stanford University
in the division of general internal medicine.
He is associate chief of staff for extended care and the director of
palliative care services at Stanford
University and the VA
Palo Alto Health Care System. He is
board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He is
the hub-site director for a fellowship program in palliative care, offered by
the VA at six training sites across the country, called the Interprofessional
Palliative Care Fellowship Program. His
academic interests in the area of palliative care have included physician
education, non-pain symptom management and cultural aspects of end-of-life
care. He is the author of the book, Palliative Care Perspectives, published
in 2003 by Oxford University Press.
