Administrative Services Credentials

 
The Educational Administration Program is open to qualified applicants seeking a Preliminary California Administrative Services Credential (Tier 1) or a Clear California Administrative Services Credential (Tier 2)

Administrative Services Tier 1 Credential
(optional M.A. in Education Administration)

The Tier 1 Program consists of 36 quarter-units of classroom preparation for those interested in public or private school administration at the K-12 level. Upon completion, the candidate will receive a recommendation for a Certificate of Eligibility, or a Preliminary Credential upon employment as a school administrator. 

Candidates may also pursue a Master's degree in Educational Administration with an additional 9 quarter-units of coursework (three 3-credit courses).

Prerequisites: Candidates for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential must:

  1. Have a minimum 3.0 grade point average in post-baccalaureate work
  2. Hold a valid teaching or Pupil Personnel Credential
  3. Provide evidence of passing the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  4. Present evidence of three years of successful teaching or pupil personnel work

Your preliminary Administrative Services Credential functions on the same timeline as your prerequisite credential. Renewal of prerequisite credential is recommended prior to filing for your Administrative Services Tier 1 Credential.

Administrative Services Tier 2 Credential

For individuals who currently hold a Administrative Services Tier 1 Credential and are employed in an administrative position, Santa Clara University offers an opportunity for candidates to achieve a Clear (Tier 2) Administrative Services Credential. This program is entirely field based, addresses the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders, and is designed to provide candidates with practical, job-related experience. The program consists of 14 quarter units and has been approved by the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
