Gail Gitt, M.A.
Practicum Coordinator
Ms. Gitt has spent 36 years in public education. She had teaching experience at the elementary level, has taught remedial reading at both the elementary and middle school, was a Resource Specialist, a middle school counselor and assistant principal. Before retiring, Ms. Gitt was the Director of Student Services for a K-8 school district in Santa Clara County. As Director, she was responsible for all special education programs within the district, including preschool handicapped classes. She was responsible for student welfare and attendance issues and worked collaboratively with governmental and community based organizations to provide support services to students. Ms. Gitt holds the following credentials: Standard Elementary (Life), Learning Handicapped (Life), Resource Specialist Certification (Life), Reading Specialist (Life), Pupil Personnel Services and Professional Administrative Services Credential. Since retirement, Ms. Gitt has been a Practicum Supervisor for special education interns and student teachers and taught Inclusion and Special Education Law courses at Santa Clara University as well as Mainstreaming at UCSC.
