David Feldman, Ph.D.
David presented the paper: "From Cure to Quality of Life: the Shifting Nature of Hope at the End of Life" at Mansfield College, Oxford University the week of September 17th. Co-authors on this paper included counseling psychology students: Amirah Khouzam, Nicholas Pisca, Pati Cabrera, and Melody Donboli as well as Julia Kasl-Godbey, a psychologist at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center.
This was for the Hope: Probing the Boundaries Conference. This conference is set up to explore contemporary definitions, meanings and expressions of hope. "In particular, it will seek to examine the individual, social, national and international contexts within which hope emerges as well as its counterpart, hopelessness." This is put on by Inter-Disciplinary Net which sees to encourage, promote and sponsor inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary conferences, seminars, etc. Twenty eight delegates from around the world presented at the conference. Presenters were from Iran, Israel, United States, Canada, Poland, Malaysia, Turkey, Brazil, South Africa, United Kingdom and others. The conference presentations will be made into a book soon to be published. After the conference David was able to enjoy London.
