The following are the emphases for the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministries, as well as additional requirements and possibilities for each.

  • iconCatechetics

    The study of the history, nature, process, and goals of catechesis. Catechetics is a ministry whose goal is the conversion and strengthening of the faith of the ecclesial community. The Catechetics emphasis is designed to offer students professional preparation for catechetical ministry in parishes, schools, and dioceses.
  • iconLiturgical Music

    The study of the relationship between liturgy and music. The Liturgical Music emphasis prepares students for musical ministry in Christian churches.
  • iconPastoral Liturgy

    The study of liturgy in the life of the church today. The Pastoral Liturgy emphasis explores the nature of worship as expressive and constitutive of Christian faith. It is designed for preparation in liturgical ministries, planning liturgical celebrations, and for liturgical leadership in a diocese or parish.
  • iconSpirituality

    Examines historical and cultural expressions of Christian spirituality and issues related to contemporary spiritualities. The Spirituality emphasis prepares people to help renew the faith life of the community.
  • iconComprehensive Examinations

    Comprehensive Examinations are required of all students enrolled in the program. These exams are given at the end of course studies and are given on two separate days.
  • iconThesis Option

    The thesis option is for students who have a strong academic ability and who think that doctoral education is a possibility.
