Dr. Neafsey completed his D.Min. (doctorate in ministry) from Indiana's Graduate Theological Foundation in 1995. He has taught at numerous institutions, including JSTB, the California Institute of Integral Studies, the diocese of Oakland, San Francisco, Stockton, and Santa Rosa, and the Mercy Center, Burlingame. His other ministry work includes leading retreats and workshops. His areas of research and teaching competence include Ignatian Spirituality, John of the Cross, spirituality and psychology, spiritual direction, holistic approaches to spiritual development, and male spirituality. His courses have focused on mysticism, prayer and prayer methods, and discernment and Christian decision-making.
