Explosions Procedures
In the event of an explosion or similar emergency, the following action should be taken:
- Immediately take cover under tables, desks, etc., which will provide protection for you from flying debris.
- Remain calm.
- Contact the Fire department at 911 and Campus Safety Emergency at x4444.
- Provide the following information to the emergency dispatchers:
- Your name
- Your location (Building name, floor, etc.)
- The location of the explosion (Building, floor, etc.)
- The cause of the explosion (if known)
- Any injuries
BEFORE YOU HANG UP, MAKE SURE THE EMERGENCY DISPATCHER HAS ALL THE INFORMATION HE/SHE NEEDS.
- Evacuate the area as soon as it is safe to do so; following the established building evacuation procedures.
- Activate the fire alarm by utilizing the pull station.
