CASPIA Recertified

Santa Clara University’s Center for Advanced Study and Practice of Information Assurance (CASPIA) has once again been recognized by the National Information Assurance Education and Training Program of the National Security Agency.  CASPIA is an interdepartmental institute in the School of Engineering whose purpose is to promote research, education, and good practice in information security and information assurance.

The National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems have an Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation program.  This program was initiated by the NSA to promote higher education in information assurance (IA).  By encouraging colleges and universities to meet its standards for IA education the NSA fosters the development of professionals with IA expertise in various disciplines.

SCU’s School of Engineering has been notified by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) that CASPIA has been recertified for the National Information Assurance Training Standard for Senior System Managers (#4012) and the National Training Standard for Information Security Professionals (#4011).  CASPIA is now entitled to present certificates of completion of the necessary coursework for both the #4011 and #4012 standards.  This certification is valid through June 2014.

This latest achievement by Santa Clara University will be recognized in an award ceremony on June 3, 2009 as part of the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education.

Interested students and working professionals are encouraged to apply for Fall 2009 admission to the Engineering certificate programs at Santa Clara University.
