Purpose:

The Department of Bioengineering at Santa Clara University seeks applications for two full-time academic year adjunct lecturer (AYAL) positions for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in bioengineering or related fields, demonstrated evidence of effective university-level teaching

Rank and Salary

Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer; Salary based on qualifications, benefits eligible.

Starting Date

September 1, 2014

Application Deadline

Applications will be reviewed starting May 1, 2014 and will continue until the positions are filled.

Responsibilities

A. Planning and teaching courses in bioengineering lower and upper division undergraduate, graduate courses in areas related to:

  1. Molecular Cell Biology
  2. Physiology and Anatomy
  3. Biomolecular Engineering
  4. Biofuels and Bioprocess Engineering

B. Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with assigned courses, including:

  1. Preparing for and conducting all assigned class meetings, including lab sessions;
  2. Assigning and evaluating student work appropriately;
  3. Providing weekly on-campus office hours for consultation outside of class;
  4. Conducting and submitting course assessments as required by the department;
  5. Assigning student grades appropriately and submitting them to the Office of Student Records by the designated deadline; and
  6. Complying with university and school policies, including those delineated in the School of Engineering Term Faculty Handbook.

C. Fulfilling other instructional, academic, or service duties as assigned, including:

  1. Advising senior design capstone projects;
  2. Attending department and school meetings and participation in school events such as Preview Day, Open House, etc. as requested.
