Education Activities

Nanoscience/technology is a highly interdisciplinary field incorporating all biological and physical sciences and engineering. The Center plans to develop education programs and curricula at both undergraduate and graduate levels that complement its research activities in such a way that pedagogy and knowledge creation are well integrated. Current progress is highlighted as follows:
* Courses added to the graduate program since 2003

* New undergraduate course on nanotechnology under development

* Related development of new undergraduate major in Bioengineering

* Sponsor summer fellowships for high school teachers since 2003 under IISME program - each teacher spends eight weeks in CNS labs working on assigned research projects with students and faculty

* Host under-represented students from local high schools under summer program sponsored by The Collaborative for Higher Education (2004 and 2005) - each group of high school seniors spend five weeks in CNS labs experiencing first-hand use of advanced instrumentation
