Graduate Research Assistant Positions (2)

The Center for Nanostructures (CNS) currently has two Graduate Research Assistant positions available to work on nanomaterials for next-generation integrated circuits.  Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields; additional experimental research experience beyond the last degree is preferred.  CNS is developing carbon-based nanostructures for interconnect and thermal interface applications with the goal of improved thermal and electrical characteristics, as well as extended reliability and performance.

Specific research topics include the following:
1) Materials synthesis using a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition system
2) Test structure design and fabrication
3) Experimental characterization of electrical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics
4) Electrothermal performance test and modeling

Experience in material synthesis, device fabrication, and/or structural, electrical, and thermal characterization techniques is highly desirable.  Successful candidates will be appointed Graduate Research Assistant with full coverage of tuition and fees and a stipend.  The appointment will be made initially for one year and may be renewable based on performance and availability of funds.
