Description Overview of Unix networking tools. Detail of the different Internetwork-Process Communication (IPC) facilities under Unix to develop distributed applications. IPC user interfaces including: pipes, shared memory, message queues, semaphores, sockets, system V Transport Layer Interface (TLI) and Remote Procure Calls (RPC). Network protocols supported under the Unix environment including: TCP/IP, XNS, SNA, and Net-Bios. Prerequisite: COEN 233.
