Description Overview of real-time systems: classification, design issues and description. Finite state machines and statecharts. Robot programming: odometry and the use of sensors. Real-time programming languages, real-time kernels and multi-threaded programming. Unified Modeling Language for the design of real-time applications. Performance analysis. Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in either COEN 12 or CSCI 61. COEN 20 with a grade of C- or better. Co-requisite: COEN 120L. Cross listed with COEN 296.
