Certificate Program
The School of Engineering understands that many working professionals desire to hone in specific skills or develop a new specialty, without necessarily being committed to a graduate degree program. The Certificate programs are one means of satisfying such career needs. Students can choose a wide range of specialities, in which they take graduate level course work in a specific technical track that culminate in a certificate rather than a graduate degree. Unlike a master's degree program, the Certificate programs are highly focused, requiring less time to complete.

Admissions
To be accepted to a certificate program, the applicant must have a bachelor's degree, and submit an online application and send us an official undergraduate transcript. Please note: Santa Clara University does not issue F-1 visas to applicants who wish to enter directly into the Certificate Program.
Grade Requirements
Students must receive a minimum grade of C in each course and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better to earn a certificate of completion.
Continuation for a Master's Degree
All certificate units in the discipline may be applied toward a master's degree. Students who wish to continue for such a degree must submit a separate online application and satisfy all normal admission requirements. The application fees are waived for the current students. The general GRE test requirement for graduate admission to the master's degree will also be waived for students who complete a certificate with a GPA of 3.5 or better.
Tuition and Fees
Students in the certificate program pays the same tuition and fees as other graduate students in the school. The tuition for 2007-08 is $669 each quarter unit, plus $129 course and lab fees and $25 registration fee. Say if you take 2 units, the tuition is $1,338. About half of our courses are 2 units and half are 4 units.
