Dr. Rahimi received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California at Berkeley. He has over twenty five years of teaching experience at universities as part-time faculty and adjunct lecturer at Santa Clara University, San Jose State University, and UC Berkeley (Extension Program) along with his professional career in the high tech industry. He is a noted speaker in industry and has presented several technical papers at ASME and other international conferences.
Dr. Rahimi has held senior engineering management positions at major companies such as IBM and Quantum corporations and is currently with Cisco Systems, Inc. He has been successful in helping these companies to produce high quality products by directing R&D projects, leading design and development teams, transferring products to manufacturing and shipping to major customers in high tech industry.
His teaching interests are in the areas of dynamics systems and control, including analytical and experimental methods, mechanical design, digital control systems, mechanical vibrations, and applied methods in manufacturing including processes development and operations. His technical background in mechanical engineering, design of precision mechanisms, and experience in magnetic and optical storage technologies has enabled him to lead many R&D projects in industry and at universities.
Dr. Rahimi has been able to enhance his teaching practices with the insight knowledge of leading edge technologies in the high tech industry, which has benefited the students in his classes from this enriched teaching approach. He has a thorough knowledge of every aspect of design, development, manufacturing of data and network storage systems and also consumer electronic products by working in the industry.
