Dr. Rakow is a consultant at Exponent, Failure Analysis Associates and a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in California. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University and his B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has previously worked within the aerospace industry at Boeing Satellite Systems and Ball Aerospace. Currently, within the Mechanics and Materials practice at Exponent, he conducts failure analysis investigations spanning multiple industries and helps analyze challenging problems for a wide range of clients. His experience spans the fields of solid mechanics, mechanical design, structural health monitoring, dynamics and vibrations, finite element analysis, composite materials, and metal fatigue. He teaches courses in elasticity and aerospace structures as a member of the adjunct faculty at Santa Clara University.
