Nam Ling Elevated to IEEE FellowNam Ling, professor of computer engineering, has been elevated to IEEE Fellow "for contributions to video coding algorithms and architectures."

According to the IEEE website, "The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in the profession and shall be conferred...upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest." The evaluation procedure is one of the most rigorous among all professional societies, and this distinction is bestowed upon less than 0.1% of IEEE members worldwide.
