Samiha Mourad Named IEEE Fellow

Samiha Mourad, professor and chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, has been named an IEEE Fellow "for contributions to fault modeling in digital circuits and systems."

According to the IEEE website, "The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in the profession and shall be conferred...upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest." The evaluation procedure is one of the most rigorous among all professional societies, and this distinction is bestowed upon less than 0.1% of IEEE members worldwide.

IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world's largest engineering professional society, with more than 370,000 members, including 80,000 students, in over 160 countries. It has approximately 1,676 chapters worldwide and publishes 132 different journals and magazines, holds 4500 conferences each year, and has 900 active international standards (http://www.ieee.org).
