Section and Student Branch Reports

Please prepare a written section or student branch report for inclusion in the minutes. Bring copies to hand out. Plan on a five minutes (or less) oral report at our separate officer/student branch meeting

In fairness to the other attendees, please have your oral report prepared and ready for presentation! It does not have to match your written report. It should include unique things you have done, highlights, ideas to pass on that might help others, and request for assistance where needed.

Student Micromouse Contest

A MicroMouse is a self-contained "smart" device that can navigate its way through a 16x16 cell maze. Through the use of programming, this little device must start at one corner of the maze and find its way to the center in the shortest time. There are cash prizes awarded to the winners of this competition.

Travel for micromouse:

Please follow the IEEE and Region 6 Travel policies, which specifically say the use of rental cars needs to be approved by the Region 6 Director PRIOR to travel. The IEEE will authorize one vehicle per Student Branch, paid at 37.5 cents/mile. Hotel arrangements for Student Branch Officers should be approved in advance of travel.

For continued proper operation of the IEEE, it is imperative that the Chair of each Section and Student Branch attend this meeting. If that is not possible, please ensure that you notify the Central Area Chair ASAP of your designee who will be representing you at this meeting.

Expenses will reimbursed for: Central Area Committee members; Section Chair or alternate; Student Branch counselor, Student contest entrants and Student Branch Chair or delegate. Other members are invited to attend on a non-reimbursable basis.

Travel is approved via the least expensive of lowest cost air or surface modes, considering a mileage reimbursement of 37.5 cents per mile. Students and Counselors should car pool. Travel and meal expenses are allowable beyond a 50-mile radius of the meeting. Travel beyond 200 miles qualifies for one night's lodging and one day's meals. This is doubled if staying overnight on Saturday produces a lower offsetting airfare. Hotel rooms should be shared by two or more students where appropriate.

See Region 6 travel expense reimbursement policy at http://www.ewh.ieee.org/reg/6/Travel/travel.html
