Dear Alumni:

John Baldwin

As you can see by the Donor Honor Roll, Law Development and Alumni Relations has had another banner year. For the fiscal year ending on June 30, we set a new record for annual contributions with a total of $3.7 million (up from last year’s record total of $2.1 million). Gifts from SCU law alumni accounted for more than $1.1 million of the total, another record. Our alumni participation level was 18.8 percent, well above the national average for the third consecutive year. With more than 2 years remaining in the school’s first major capital campaign, From Promise to Prominence, we have raised $10 million toward our goal of $12 million. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone—alumni, friends, faculty, and staff—who made this possible.

For the past five years, we have made steady progress in involving more alumni in the life of the school. With an eye toward the future, we have made a number of changes and additions designed to increase alumni involvement over the next several years:

Our Alumni Board has increased its membership from 17 to 30. This was done for a number of reasons, but primarily to create a ‘national’ board, enabling alumni representation from a significantly larger geographical area.

During September 10-12 of this year, the law alumni center sponsored our annual Reunion Weekend. Our goal is to bring more alumni to campus each year in a reunion setting to renew friendships and acquaintances with their fellow classmates.

In the 2004-2005 fiscal year, you will see a significant increase in our efforts to reach out to alumni through regional alumni gatherings, as well as bringing the dean, faculty, and staff to your area.

In the last few months there have been a number of changes in staffing here at the Law Alumni Center. Stacey Rishel is our new director of alumni relations and annual giving, Linda Melchiori Eisenberg and Courtney Hamilton have come on board as major gift officers, and Sherry Dahl-Siegrist is our new administrative associate.

As we move through the next five years, all of us in the Law Alumni Center are excited and optimistic about working with alumni and friends and continuing our progress in making Santa Clara an even greater law school. If you have an interest in working with us, in whatever way, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Sincerely,

John Baldwin
