Law Alumni AssociationExpanded Alumni BoardIam honored to have been elected president of the Law Alumni Association Board of Directors for 2005-06. I’m proud to continue the traditions established by my predecessors, and I look forward to enhancing the Alumni Association during my tenure. As you may recall, Kurt Seibert, who is now officially our immediate past-president, wrote an article in the Spring edition of Santa Clara Law about the Alumni Association’s decision to expand our board of directors. I am pleased to announce that our expansion efforts are complete and our board is now a healthy thirty members strong. It is wonderful to have a board that is as impressive as it is diverse. The fundamental change in the number of directors and in the way our board operates will help make our annual events more successful than ever. This was evidenced most recently by the annual Justice Edward Panelli Golf Classic, which took place on September 26 at La Rinconada Country Club. Thank you to Deborah Bedolla, who served as our tournament coordinator this year, and to all of those board members who served on the golf committee for putting on another fantastic event. I would like to welcome and introduce our four newest board members: Nora Friman ’79 from the San Jose City Attorney’s Office; Rachel Rosati ’00, an associate at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary in East Palo Alto; Andrea Shaheen ’01, an associate at Bustamante, O’Hara & Gagliasso in San Jose; and Rod Strickland ’92 a litigation partner at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati. As you know, the main goal of the Alumni Association is to keep our graduates connected and to reconnect with those who have lost touch. One of the ways we accomplish that goal is through the annual Spring Awards Banquet, which will take place on April 28, 2006. Please mark your calendars now to save the date! Since we are always looking for new and better ways to serve the alumni, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Law Alumni Board members if you have comments about the direction of the board, suggestions on how to improve any of our existing events, or thoughts on new events. As always, we encourage you to stay connected through SCU’s online community. You can register at www.alumniconnections.com/santaclara . Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kurt for his leadership and hard work throughout this past year. With his help and the strong support of our more recent past presidents (especially Rebecca Jones and Bill Clayton), our Alumni Association plays a key role in the continued success of the School of Law. Warm Regards,
