Expanded Space for the School of Law

The School of Law has acquired significant additional space in a University-leased building located at 425 El Camino Real, at the junction of The Alameda and El Camino, next to the location of the new baseball stadium. This summer, the law school will take over approximately 29,000 square feet in the building, named Loyola Hall. About a quarter of the space will be dedicated to library storage of lesser used and duplicative materials, and the remainder will house multiple offices including Career Services, Legal Analysis Research and Writing (LARAW), Academic Support, Law Fiscal Operations, the Innocence Project, the law reviews and moot court programs, and the offices of the centers and institutes.

“This provides us with an exciting opportunity to physically pull together several integral areas of the law school, provide additional meeting and office space, and address our longstanding space needs until a long-term solution to those needs—either a substantial renovation of current space and added space in Bannan or a new law school facility —is accomplished,” says Dean Donald Polden. Associate Dean Mary Emery and Senior Assistant Dean Cathy Teran are taking the lead in planning the space and preparing for the move.
