developmentThanks for your generosityDear Alumni and Friends:
As I celebrate my seventh anniversary with the School of Law, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have made this the most enjoyable position of my professional career. When I arrived in 1999, there was a lot of work to be done. There had been little or no development or alumni relations activities for a year. I was the only development staff person, the alumni board had approximately half of its complement of members, and fundraising was at an all-time low. We now have a staff of five. Our alumni board is much larger, considerably more active, and far more diverse (by gender, by class, geographical location, etc.) than ever before. And, as I write this, the school has raised more than $14.5 million in its first-ever capital campaign. As we near the end of this campaign, I am grateful for your continued financial generosity. And I also want to encourage you to continue to support and take advantage of the many opportunities for you get involved in the life of the school. Here are just a few of the activities we have planned in the upcoming months: Spring Awards Banquet, April 28, 2006: The recipients of this year’s Alumni Special Achievement Awards are the Hon. James Wright ’49, Naomi Young ’74 and John Cruden ’74. This year’s Owens Lawyer of the Year is William Clayton ’74. Again, thank you for your support. Sincerely, JOHN BALDWIN |
