David Berger is a partner in the litigation department of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. He is a leader in the firm's corporate governance group and heads its mergers and acquisitions litigation practice. David's practice combines advising boards and shareholders on matters of corporate control, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance, as well as litigating such matters. His career with Symantec spanned more than 15 years, starting in 1993 as the third attorney in Symantec's legal department, including a period as the director of product management for Symantec's Internet Tools business unit, and continuing through his appointment as vice president and general counsel in 1999. He completed his education in the Midwest, both at Notre Dame University and the Siebel Institute of Technology, where he obtained a postgraduate degree in Brewing Science and Technology. A. C. "Mike" Markkula, Jr. has been associated with Santa Clara University in various capacities since 1984, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Markkula and his wife Linda, provided initial funding for the Center for Applied Ethics and served as Chairman of the Board of Advisors and a member of the steering committee.
