Ervie SmithCEO, Ervie L. Smith, Inc.
Ervie Smith is the President/CEO of Ervie L. Smith, Inc. She has had a very a successful consulting practice since 1974 working primarily with nonprofits in Silicon Valley in the areas of fund raising, board development, strategic planning, organizational development and capital campaigns.
Ervie has worked with numerous organizations in Silicon Valley including the American Red Cross, Santa Clara County Council of Boy Scouts of America, Loaves and Fishes, Boys and Girls Club of Silicon Valley, Yu-Ai Kai, Arts Council/Music and Arts Foundation of Silicon Valley, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Parkinson’s Institute and the YMCA, just to mention a few.
In 1982, Ms. Smith expanded her business and began providing assistance to individuals, foundations and corporations in defining, setting up, and administering their charitable contributions programs. The Valley Foundation was her primary account for twenty-four years serving as the Executive Director from the foundation’s formation in 1984 to 2007. Other foundation clients have included Pacific Western Bank Foundation, Greater Bay Bancorp Foundation, Cupertino Rotary Endowment Foundation, Calvary Church Foundation, The Leo M. Shortino Family Foundation and a number of other small family foundations.
Currently on contract with Focus Business Bank, Ervie Smith is responsible for assisting the bank in acquiring non profit organizations as clients. In exchange for banking with Focus Business Bank, each organization receives two hours of Ms. Smith’s consulting time as a part of their banking package.
Direct personal involvement in community issues is the trademark of Ervie L. Smith, Inc. Ervie has demonstrated her personal commitment to the community by serving as a volunteer and a board member for numerous organizations. As a member of the Rotary Club of San Jose, she has served on the board as Vice President, chaired a number of committees and served as President of the Endowment Board. She is also a founding Director of the Association of Small Foundations and is past Chairman of its National Board. Other board memberships include, or have included, YMCA of Silicon Valley (Past Chairman), Board Member of the YMCA of the USA, San Jose Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (Past Chairman), Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, Peninsula Grantmakers (Past Chairman), San Jose State University Foundation, The Grantwell Foundation at BYU, Diabetes Society, and Cancer League. Ervie is a member of Class IV of the American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley and has also served on the Santa Clara County Grand Jury.
