BUSINESS ETHICS MOOCS REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration is open for a new round of our two popular online business ethics courses (MOOCS), “Business Ethics for the Real World” and “Creating an Ethical Corporate Culture.” The courses are self-paced and can be taken any time between August 18, 2014, and July 1, 2015. We’re excited to offer new incentives for participating in our MOOCs. In addition to letters of completion, MOOC graduates will receive a VIP invitation to our new MOOC Alumni LinkedIn group, with special content, opportunities for discussion and networking, and more.

While campaigns such as "Bring Back Our Girls" and "Yes All Women" are getting a lot of buzz, are these forms of activism just window dressing, or are they bringing real awareness and action?

BIOTECH POSTER SESSION ON ETHICAL ISSUES

Thirty Santa Clara University biology students presented an informative poster session in June, sponsored by the Ethics Center, the Bioengineering Department, and the University Honors Program. Now in its 12th year, the event drew a large crowd of faculty and students.  Topics such as "Recombinant DNA Enhanced Biofuel" and "Savior Siblings: Yours, Mine, and Ours" illustrated the diversity of the projects.

The Ethics Center has exceeded its goal of raising $100,000 by June 30 to match a gift from Advisory Board Chair Dick Levy and his wife, Sue. In this video, Center student staff and fellows express their appreciation for the programs our donors support, which contribute to the students’ growth, education, and awareness of ethical issues, not only on campus, but nationwide and globally. ANN SKEET JOINS STAFF

The Ethics Center welcomes new director of leadership ethics Ann Skeet, who will oversee the Center's Business and Nonprofit Ethics programs.  A former strategy consultant, Skeet was previously president of Notre Dame High School, CEO of American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley, and vice president of marketing at the San Jose Mercury News.

NONPROFIT ETHICS LUNCH

11:30am – 1:30pm | Benson Center, Williman Room

Join us for “Ethical Dilemmas of Nonprofits – Taking a Deeper Dive,” presented by the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) with partners Focus Business Bank and the Ethics Center. Ervie Smith, Center Advisory Board member and panel moderator, will dive deeper with each of the panelists for important insights on ethical challenges in the nonprofit sector. There will be time for Q&A and networking. Registration deadline is Thursday, August 14.
