Hackworth Grants for Research in Applied Ethics

The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics offers twice-yearly grants to support research and the creation of teaching materials in applied ethics. Funded by a gift from Joan and the late Michael Hackworth, the grants are open to Santa Clara University faculty, staff, and students. Previous grantees have used the awards for such projects as a film on organ donation, research about the effect of group dynamics on how engineering teams deal with ethical decision-making, and a book, Teardown: Memoir of a Shrinking City, which was published by University of California Press.
