Hackworth Research Grant Winners, Winter 2005

Nancy Unger, SCU Assistant Professor of History, Women and Gender Studies, and Environmental Studies, $5,000 for a project called, "Wisconsin Women and Environmental Justice." Professor Unger will examine the history and experience of women in advancing the understanding of environmental justice in the state of Wisconsin.

Student

Elizabeth Wheeler, SCU School of Law '05, $2,000 for a project called, "Guantanamo Bay: Human Rights Advocates and the Check on Legal Ethics." Ms. Wheeler will be analyzing the ethical, constitutional, and international law-based arguments used by non-governmental organizations in response to U.S. Government policies on prisoners at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
