Balassone has worked with boards of directors, executive teams, and non-profit advisory boards on the topics of business ethics, organizational obstacles to effective ethical behavior, and implementing campaigns for improving ethical culture. He is actively engaged with several clients supporting their efforts to implement values-based leadership, codes of conduct, training, management assessment, and risk assessment. Prior to joining the Ethics Center in 2002, Balassone had an extensive background in sales, marketing, and business development. He was a founding member of several start-up companies in Silicon Valley, was executive vice president for marketing and then sales at Hitachi Data Systems, and held a broad range of line and staff positions at IBM.
