The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics will offer ethics education for medical and nursing staff and other health care professionals at Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif., and St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, Calif. Ethics consultation for hospital staff, patients, and their families will also be provided.

Heading the effort at Seton will be Sister Joan Marie Steadman, CSC, health care ethics fellow at the Center. Steadman is a former member of the leadership team for Sisters of the Holy Cross and former vice president for mission at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. She trained in clinical health care ethics at Saint Louis University and in bioethics at the Bioethics Consultation Group in Berkeley, Calif.

Seton and St. Louise are members of the Daughters of Charity Health Care System, as is O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, with which the Ethics Center has partnered for more than 10 years.
