How can I get permission to reprint
articles I find on the site?
We are generally open to reprint requests, but they must
be submitted in writing, including the specific articles you
would like to reprint, how many copies you intend to make
and in what format, and whether you will be charging for your
publication.. This site is owned and operated by the Markkula
Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University and contains
material which is derived in whole or in part from material
generated internally and other sources, and is protected by
copyright and trademark laws. All rights reserved. No portion
of this site may be modified, reproduced, stored in a retrieval
system, redistributed, or transmitted, in any other form or
by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording,
or otherwise, without the prior expressed, written consent

about new material on the site?
The Ethics Center publishes a monthly e-letter with information
about upcoming programs and links to the latest publications
on the site. To subscribe, please fill out our feedback
form, making sure that you check the box indicating that
you wish to receive the monthly update.

How many people visit the site,
how do they find it, and where are they from?
The Ethics Center site averages about 15,000 page views daily.
The Center's resources in fields such as business, medical,
and government ethics are among the first sites in Google
and Yahoo searches on these terms. Visitors come from all
over the world.

What is the history of the site?
The Ethics Center Web site was designed as an experiment
in November 1995 by SCU undergraduates Benjamin Trott, Dylan
Pass, and Scott Butler, under the direction of then-Executive
Director Thomas Shanks. It was originally hand-programmed
in html and Perl. The site is still maintained by students
and supervised by the Center's director of communications.
