The program creates a set of classic books each year for young readers, and distributes them to 3,000 libraries. The theme for the 2007-08 Bookshelf is "Created Equal."

Evangeline Abriel published “VAWA Then and Now: a Legislative Update on the 2005 Reauthorization of the Violence against Women Act” in Bender’s Immigration Law Bulletin 431 (May 1, 2006). She co-authored, with Sally Kinoshita of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, a report entitled “Application of Protection Remedies for Victims of Domestic Abuse, Human Trafficking, and Crime under U.S. Law to Persons Physically Present in the U.S. Territories” in 2007. Abriel also conducted training on immigration relief for victims of human trafficking, on behalf of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Migration and Refugee Services, in Philadelphia. Her short article, “The New U Visa Interim Regulations: Part I,” was published in Catholic Legal Immigration News in 2007. She presented oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals on Nov. 5, 2007, in Guerra-Valdez v. Gonzalez. Finally, the 2007 edition of The VAWA Manual: Immigration Relief for Abused Immigrants, co-authored by Abriel and Sally Kinoshita, was recently issued on CD-Rom by the ILRC.

He alsoco-authored an article, “What Has Become of Grief Counseling: An Evaluation of the Empirical Foundations of the New Pessimism,” for Professional Psychology: Research and Practice. Lucila Ramos-Sanchez, Counseling Psychology, is publishing an article, “The Relationship between Masculinity, Asian Values, Acculturation and Depression of Filipino-American Men,” in Family Therapy Vol. 33 No.3, 139-155. The study was completed and published with former graduate students in the Counseling Psychology program, Gerald Gonzales, Kimberly Tran, and Brad Roeder. She also published “Language Switching and Mexican Americans’ Emotional Expression” in the Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development.
Shauna Shapiro, Counseling Psychology, co-authored two articles: “The Toronto mindfulness scale: Development and validation” in Journal of Clinical Psychology and "Mental Balance and Well-Being: Building Bridges between Buddhism and Western Psychology,” in the American Psychologist in 2006. With colleagues, she also published “Self Care for Health Care Professionals,” in an American Psychological Association journal, Training and Education in Professional Psychology. She also co-authored: “Meditation Lowers Stress and Supports Forgiveness in College Students: A Randomized Controlled Trial” in the Journal for American College Health; “Learning from Spiritual Models and Meditation,” published in Pastoral Psychology; and “Self-care for Health Care Professionals: Effects of MBSR on Mental Well Being of Counseling Psychology Students,” published in Training and Education in Professional Psychology in the 2006-07 academic year. In 2007, she co-authored “Mind-body Clinical Interventions in Cancer Care” in Integrative Oncology. She also co-authored “The Toronto Mindfulness Scale: Development and Validation” in Journal of Clinical Psychology and “A Randomized Controlled Trial of Mindfulness Meditation Versus Relaxation Training: Effects on Distress, Positive States of Mind, Rumination and Distraction,” published in Annals of Behavioral Medicine in 2007.
