Undeniably, J.M. Synge is considered the pivotal Irish playwright of the early 20th century.

Tom Fox has served as editor of the National Catholic Reporter for 18 years and was its publisher for five years. He previously wrote for The New York Times, Time magazine, the Detroit Free Press and the Washington Star, before coming to NCR as editor in 1980. He is the author of several books.
