On October 15, 2009, Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Department of Homeland Security, kicked off the 2009-2010 President's Speaker Series with a lecture on homeland security in a networked age. A member of Santa Clara's Class of 1979, Napolitano was selected by the Obama Administration to head the Department of Homeland Security in early 2009.
Upcoming lectures include Jon Sobrino, S.J. who will discuss the challenge of the Salvadoran martyrs, David Sanger's discussion of America's financial crisis , and Regina Rabinovich who will discuss global health issues and "neglected diseases."
