The Power of One Day
2972 Donors

.... went all in for SCU!

Together, we made history.

On April 23, 2014, 2,972 people donated to SCU during its first one-day giving challenge. Not only did this surpass the initial goal of 1,001 donors in 24 hours—set by Julie ’83 and Mark Robson ’84 to win their generous $100,000 challenge—but it also secured a second $100,000 challenge gift, courtesy of an anonymous ’69 alumnus. Altogether, including the two challenge gifts, SCU raised $795,785.

This represents the most donors and the most gifts SCU has ever received in one day, making the University’s first-ever one-day giving challenge a resounding success.

Thank you donors!

Our challenge-gift donors gave to areas of the University that they are passionate about to inspire others to do the same. As a result, 2,972 new gifts will now support and strengthen the SCU experience, including scholarships and programs that our community cares deeply about. We’re still processing donations and tallying the exact amount raised. Stay tuned for an update on the total dollars raised.

Thank you to everyone who gave, and especially to the Robsons and the anonymous donor for their combined generosity. Here's what challenge gift donors, Julie ’83 and Mark Robson ’84 had to say, reflecting the sentiment all those who participated share:

Julie ’83 and Mark Robson ’84
“The SCU community has always risen to a challenge, and yesterday was no different. To be joined by so many of our friends and fellow alumni in giving back reaffirms how many people have felt the impact of a Santa Clara education in their lives.”
