Santa Clara University Community Service Day

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, the staff senate is sponsoring a SCU Community Service Day.  Interested students, faculty, staff, alumni and their families, are invited to participate in providing a one day of community service. As a group representing Santa Clara University, volunteers are able to pick from a number of organized activities provided by participating community organizations.  This is the first year for this event and it is hoped that it will become an annual SCU tradition in the years ahead.

All volunteer activities will take place in the morning.  With the exception of Full Circle Farm which doesn't open until 10:00 a.m., the activities will begin around 8:30 a.m..  Most activities will run about 3-4 hours. A leader from SCU will be on site to greet you.  A representative from the organization will provide training and guidance. After you sign up for an event you will be contacted with greater detail about that specific event.

In addition to the service activity, participants are invited to a sponsored lunch served by Bon Appetit which will be held that day at 1:30 PM in Santa Clara University's Donohoe Alumni Gardens (see campus map).      We realize that not all volunteers will be able to attend this event so we have included sign-up for it on the volunteer form below.

The community organizations listed below will be providing service opportunities. Click on it's name for greater detail about the organization.  Ensure that the activity is age appropriate for all members of your group prior to signing up Please note that some organizations can only accommodate a set number of participants. You will have the opportunity to note a second and third activity choice in case your first choice is already full to capacity or the minimum amount required for that event has not been reached.  Once an activity fills we will need to consider the alternates.  Sign-ups will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.
