LEAD Scholars ProgramLEAD - Leadership Excellence and Academic Development - Scholars Program assists first-generation college students and their families in a student's journey at Santa Clara University. Participation in the program is by invitation only. Students are selected based on their being awarded a grant or scholarship by Santa Clara University and the distinction of being among the first members of their families to attend college. The LEAD Scholars Program is among those administered by the University Honors Program. It offers a variety of opportunities and services that promote success in a student's educational pursuits. The LEAD Scholars Program is a community of peers and faculty committed to scholarship, community engagement, and service. The program begins in the freshman year to ensure a student's smooth transition from high school to college, and it lasts through the senior year by connecting students with internships, graduate school preparation, and leadership opportunities. The program also provides academic and advising support, peer mentoring, and team and community building. Students in the LEAD Scholars Program are asked to attend orientation sessions 2 and 3 (July 13 & 14 or July 16 & 17) . In addition LEAD Scholars must participate in LEAD Week , which will be held from September 13 - 18, a week prior to the start of the 2009 Fall quarter. We look forward to working with LEAD Scholars Program students and their families. |
