First Generation Orientation - LEAD Scholars Orientation

LEAD Scholars Program

LEAD Scholars Orientation

To support  first-generation college students, it is important to introduce their families to the college experience. This orientation provides an opportunity for students and their families to learn what SCU campus life is like from current students, professors and staff who are or were the first members of their families to attend college. The orientation also provides an opportunity for students to learn about campus resources and the student community.

LEAD Scholars should attend oreintation session 2 (July 13 & 14) or session 3 (July 15 & 16).  They will participate in all of the orientation activities with other incoming freshman.  In addition there will sessions for LEAD Scholars and their families to learn more about the LEAD Scholars program.

LEAD Scholars RLC course selection
LEAD Scholars will meet with the program director and coordinator to select classes and learn more about the program and LEAD week.

Parent Session

The parents of LEAD Scholars will meet with the program director and coordinator to learn more about the program and ways they can support their children as they transition to college.

Dinner and Panel Discussion
The dinner will include a panel discussion and a chance to meet your new SCU family. We hope that this event will encourage students and their families to ask questions about college life. The dinner and panel discussion will be available on the first day of orientation sessions 2 and 3 and is ope to LEAD Scholars and their families.
