Current Residents
The move-out date for ALL residence halls except University Villas is Thursday, June 13 by 9PM OR within 24 hours of your LAST FINAL (whichever comes first)!! The University Villas will close at 9PM on Wednesday, June 19!
Please refer to the information listed below regarding the Move-Out Process!!
Please pay careful attention to the policies listed in your community handbook, as they include items that are prohibited in the residence halls and carefully consider any items you may bring back to campus in January. For those of you that have lived on campus before, please pay special attention as some aspects of the move-out process have changed.
Apartment/Room Condition Report Process
At move-in, residents fill out a(n) Apartment/Room Condition Report and submit it to the Residence Life staff within 72 hours after moving in. We use this form as a record of the initial condition of the room. Upon move-out, residents will complete a move-out evaluation of their room condition with a member of the Residence Life staff.Any damages identified at move-out will be billed to the resident student account.
After all of the Residence Halls close, Santa Clara Housing and Residence Life staff members will inspect each room to conduct a final check for room damages. This final check is completed to ensure that all damages in a room are found, documented, and properly billed at the conclusion of the year. No person, except SCU Housing and Residence Life staff will enter the room until the final check has been completed and damages assessed.Any damages identified during the final check will be documented in a letter that will be set to the resident.
Community Damage
When deliberate or accidental damage is not assigned to an individual or group, the burden of repair costs will be shared by all residents of that living unit or section. The damage costs are pro-rated among those students who are in the position to prevent damage from occurring or to identify specific individuals who are responsible.
Repair and Replacement Charges
For your reference, please review the list of common damages and estimated charges associated with reconciling those damages. These costs are estimates and may not reflect the actual cost you will be charged.
If you have any additional questions about the process, please feel free to contact your CF/NR.
