Assistant Director, Housing Assignments
Marc is originally from Mountain View, California, but at seventeen Marc’s family retired and moved the family to Mexico (Irapuato, Guanajuato). Marc believes that this move forever changed the trajectory of his life. The life Marc experienced in Mexico opened his eyes to the social and political polarities that exist between the rich, the poor and his place as an outsider within Mexican society. His desire to assimilate into the culture, make a difference and give back to his adopted home led him to re-enroll in high school at a non-traditional age. During this time he traveled and started a business. Marc felt extremely blessed and life unfurled itself in many beautiful ways, with friendships and a strong sense of community and belonging. Marc returned to the states with a greater appreciation of an education, which set him on the path to attend university as a first-generation college student.
At Santa Clara, Marc has had the pleasure of meeting with and speaking to many undergraduates, graduates, parents, and staff members, in an effort to assist them in navigating the intricacies of college life and Santa Clara University policies. Marc believes he has learned a great deal from the students he has met at Santa Clara University. Marc feels extremely fortunate to have reaped the rewards the SCU Community has bestowed upon him. Marc strongly believes in fostering a spirit of team among the Housing Office student assistants, as well as his peers throughout SCU’s faculty and staff.
When Marc has free time he enjoys spending time with family, playing video games, visiting museums, trying new recipes, and exercising his high energy border collie. One of Marc’s favorite movies is The Breakfast Club.
