  • Department description The Special Event Technician provides basic technical assistance in the following areas: 1) technical, (lighting, sound, rigging, staging); or 2) operational, (box office, front of house operations) for university or off-campus users of the Mayer Theater, Fess Parker Studio Theater, Recital Hall or other designated performing arts venues.
    Qualifications A. Demonstrated basic technical knowledge in at least one performing arts discipline: technical, (lighting, sound, stage systems) or operational, (box office, customer service, front of house system). B. Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints. C. Demonstrate interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. D. Flexible evening and weekend availability is imperative. E. Must have knowledge of relevant safety regulations required. Ability to lift and move moderately heavy objects, up to 35 lbs. safely. F. Frequent lifting, kneeling and bending of knees and back required. Able to work at elevated heights by means of a ladder, extension ladder, and lift (technical). G. Understanding and support of the Jesuit tradition of education and a commitment to the fundamental values of service to others, community and diversity.
    Duties and responsibilities A. Serve as general technician and provide support for technical, (stage set-up, sound and lighting systems) or operational, (box office, front of house) for performances, concerts and lecture needs for SCUPresents-CPA B. Assist the Production manager/Special Events Manager in all aspects of the event or performance.
