Every Minute Counts

February 1st-27th

Join us for the 3rd annual “Every Minute Counts.” Santa Clara University and the
University of San Francisco welcome Loyola Marymount University and Marquette University
to our annual GO MOVE Challenge!

Come and help us kickoff this event
Monday, February 2nd

Malley Center

Join us for the GO MOVE Challenge Kick Off on Monday, February 2nd from 11:45 AM-1:15 PM
in the Malley Center.  The Campus Recreation staff will have basketballs out for a game of
“Horse”, Badminton nets and equipment, as well as Four Square and Jump Ropes
ready to go.

In the lobby we will have computers ready for you to register on Hubbub if you did not enroll
for last year’s challenge.  Your Hubbub login and password are still valid for this year’s challenge.
You will need to join the challenge once you log on to start logging your minutes.

Pinkberry will also be in the lobby passing out frozen yogurt to the first 250 employees to come
and join in on the fun.

All participants who log 850 minutes or more during February 1st-27th will have their name put into a drawing for 2 tickets to the Inaugural San Jose Earthquakes game in March or the LA Galaxy game in August.

Can’t make the event?  You can still register on your own.

You have 2 options for tracking your minutes of movement

The Techy Way: For those that love technology and seeing how others are doing, and if you’d
like to be able to track every day, anytime, you can use Hubbub.

Joining the challenge is easy as 1-2-3:

1. Registration Starts now on

You will need to create a log-in to register with Hubbub.  When registering you will need to fill
in the following fields.  If you already have an account, just sign in and go to step 2.

Email-shown to no one

Once you have completed your registration, you MUST complete the OPTIONAL section as well to be
part of SCU /USF/Marquette/Loyola Marymount Challenge. The information you will need for this section is below.

The Low Tech Way: For those that don’t love “apps” or having a public profile and prefer the
personal touch, you may log your minutes here.

Ideas for Minutes on Campus 

The first 100 participants to reach 500 minutes will receive a GO MOVE Challenge Dry Fit Shirt
for you to wear throughout the month of February.

Deadlines for submitting your hours-

What does Every Minute Counts exactly mean?

“Every Minute Counts,” includes anything that makes you move your body, burn calories
and increase your heart rate, such as climbing stairs, playing sports, fast paced walking,
jogging, swimming, biking, strength training, heavy gardening and even yoga. Doing some sort
of moderate exercise for at least 150 minutes each week can help keep your heart pumping and in good health.

No one said those minutes have to be all at once! Find simple ways to weave a bit more
exercise into your busy day.

•    Take the stairs instead of the elevator, or even use a different set of stairs that are further away
•    Park further away from your destination
•    Fast paced walk anywhere
•    Pull weeds for 5 minutes before starting dinner
•    Do push-ups, crunches or yoga stretches during commercial breaks
•    5 minute jog when you get home from work

Check-in throughout the day, every day, to move your team up the leaderboard!
The University with the highest total number of minutes wins!
