The Retreat Director:

Stephanie Russell is executive director of university mission and identity at Marquette University. Reporting to the president, she is responsible for promoting the university's mission and Catholic, Jesuit identity. Russell has worked for many Jesuit institutions, including 11 years as the provincial assistant for lay formation and social ministry with the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus. She is a founding member of the Ignatian Associates, a lay community of more than one-hundred women and men who live and serve in the Ignatian tradition, and the Ignatian Colleagues Program, a comprehensive developmental program for administrators in Jesuit colleges and universities across the country. In addition to her work at Marquette, she regularly directs retreats, writes and speaks on Ignatian topics. Russell’s professional career has focused on pastoral ministry and education. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Marquette University and a master of arts in pastoral studies from St. Francis Seminary in Wisconsin. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in human letters from Spring Hill College in 2009



The Retreat Center:

Villa Maria del Mar is located on the edge of the beautiful Monterey Bay. The Center is sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names. Since 1963 the Sisters and a dedicated staff have welcomed guests and shared the gift of hospitality by providing space for individuals or groups as well as meeting places for seminars and conferences. The healing rhythm of the Monterey Bay provides a background for walking and relaxation. Once visitors experience the serenity and beauty, they return year after year. villa maria del mar Delicious home cooked meals are served in the beautiful Surfside Dining Room with a picturesque Bay view from any vantage point.

The retreat is open to SCU faculty, staff, grad students, SCU Alums and their partners. $130 Single / $100 Double
