The Retreat
Join Senior Dharma Teacher, Juan Velasco, and Dharma Teacher, Sarita Tamayo-Moraga for an introduction to Zen Meditation . The day will consist of teachings on Zen sitting, with practice sitting and walking meditations. Dharma talks will be given on Zen topics such as: compassion, being a contemplative in action, how to unite the search for inner peace with action for world peace.
Individual interviews with Juan Velasco will be made available to provide time for interaction on personal matters.
The Retreat Directors
Juan Velasco is a Senior Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen and at Empty Gate Zen Center in Berkeley, California. He is also an Associate Professor in the Departments of English and Modern Languages and Literatures at SCU.
Sarita Tamayo-Moraga is a Dharma Teacher in the Suzuki Roshi School of Zen and at Crystal Springs Sangha at Mercy Center in Burlingame. She is also an Academic Year Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at SCU.
