Sister Peggy spoke about her work in El Salvador. The presentation was followed by a dessert reception co-sponsored by the Justice and the Arts Initiative. A question and answer opportunity followed her talk. This talk was free and open to the public.

The Lecturer

Long-time El Salvador peace activist Sister Peggy O'Neill has been living and working in El Salvador since 1986. She accompanied the Salvadoran people through six years of their 12-year civil war and now through 15 years of healing. "It's wonderful we don't have any more bullets or bombs," Sister Peggy says, "but we are not out of war. It is a war of economics, a war of migration."

Her current peacemaking efforts include the founding of Centro Arte Para la Paz, a center focused on finding peace through the arts. The Center promotes peace through dance, art, and theological reflection.

Sister Peggy holds a doctoral degree in theology from New York University and teaches at the University of Central America (UCA) in El Salvador.
