Read the official invitation from Fr. John Mossi, S.J.Dear Friends and Ignatian Pilgrims, You are invited to join Fr. John Mossi, S.J., tour Chaplain, and Joe Naylor, tour coordinator, on a memorable 10-day journey, March 19 to 28, 2011, as we trace the life and spiritual heritage of St. Ignatius Loyola throughout northern Spain, with a special trip to the Shrine of Lourdes in southern France. On this exciting pilgrimage, we will visit St. Ignatius’ home near the beautiful city of San Sebastian, Spain. Our travels will bring us to the family castles and birthplaces of both St. Ignatius (1491) and his best friend, St. Francis Xavier (1506), missionary to India and Japan.
Back in Spain, we will follow in Ignatius’ footsteps to the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat where he prayed an all night vigil before the Black Madonna; to the holy cave of Manresa where he composed the Spiritual Exercises; and to Barcelona where Ignatius at age 33 spent over a year learning the rudiments of Latin in preparation for his university studies and Masters degree in Theology. During our journey, we look forward to celebrating Mass together, sharing spiritual and historical talks on Ignatian life, readings from the Autobiography and Letters of Ignatius, and praying his well-known Examination of Conscience. On our pilgrimage, we will travel by modern motor coach; enjoy excellent accommodations and partake in the regional cuisine of Spain and France. As spring blossoms, our itinerary will allow time for the companionship, adventure, and relaxation that enable travelers to enter more deeply into the spirit of pilgrimage. Special blessings on you as we prepare for this experience of a lifetime. In the footsteps of Ignatius, For more information:Visit the Jesuits of California Website by clicking here.
