The Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education is dedicated to preserve and extend the Catholic identity and Jesuit mission of Santa Clara University.
Competence, conscience, and compassion—these critical qualities are built into the foundations of a Santa Clara University education. Dedicated to extending the mission and core values of Santa Clara University to the campus as a whole, the Ignatian Center's programs serve students, faculty, and staff in their studies, professions, and faith. All members of the Santa Clara University community can make important contributions to the evolving Catholic and Jesuit identity of the University. The Ignatian Center is premised on that belief.
The Center's work is divided among the following:Arrupe Partnerships for Community-based Learning - educates students and the University as a whole in the realities of the lives of the marginalized and the poor. Through community placements in Santa Clara County, Arrupe Partnerships create opportunities for active engagement, research, and service, serving as a catalyst for a unique collaboration between scholars and community members. Bannan Institute for Jesuit Educational Mission - assists Santa Clara University in keeping its Catholic and Jesuit character at the center of the educational enterprise. Its programs encourage all members of the SCU community to reflect on, discuss, and creatively explore Catholic and Jesuit ideals. Kolvenbach Solidarity Program - offers students, faculty, staff, and alumni immersion experiences into the gritty reality of our globalizing world. Immersion experiences, and the profound reflection to which they naturally give rise, are privileged moments of vocational discernment during which participants are invited to consider their place in the world.
